What type of documents do you edit?

We edit all types of university and research texts, including research papers, PhD dissertations, master's theses, reviews, conference presentations, books, chapters, special issues, teaching and information materials, and university, department and organization websites.

 

I need my document in British or American English

We are able to edit to all English varieties, including British, US, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, South African and Irish English.

Simply tell us which you require when you send your document.

 

How long does language editing take?

Texts take around ten working days to complete. A PhD or master's thesis takes approximately 20 working days, depending on length.

If you have an urgent text, we recommend our express service below.

 

Do you have an express service?

For urgent texts, we have a special express service. Express texts are generally completed in about half normal time. Please tell us your deadline when you send your text.

How do I pay?

When you receive your completed document, you are sent an invoice in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format which you can pay by credit, debit or charge card, bank transfer, cheque/check or money order. Full payment details are included with your invoice.

Can you read my file format?

We can work in the following programs and file formats:

  • Microsoft Word (Windows and Mac)
  • Rich Text Format (RTF)
  • Plain text
  • PowerPoint
  • Excel
  • HTML

If you use another program or format, for example PDF, WordPerfect, StarSuite or Scientific WorkPlace, we recommend that you convert your document to Microsoft Word or Rich Text Format (RTF) for language editing.

Can I send a PDF?

Language editing involves making corrections to your text. This means that a fixed document format, such as PDF, is unsuitable.

In order to edit your PDF text, it must first be converted to an editable format, corrected and then reconverted to PDF. Unfortunately, conversion from PDF to Microsoft Word or Rich Text Format (RTF) is only suitable for the most simple texts. For longer or more complex texts, it does not give satisfactory results.

For language editing, therefore, it is best to convert your text to Rich Text Format, Microsoft Word or plain text format before sending. For further information on sending your text, click here

 

I am having difficulty sending my attached file(s)

If you are having difficulty sending your text, we recommend the following:

  • Check the spelling of the email address carefully
  • Try our alternative email address: language@wholeworldcompany.com
  • If you are sending a very large text with images, remove the images from your file if they are not necessary for language editing
  • Check with your system administrator if you are able to send larger attachments, as universities and organizations sometimes place size restrictions on sending or receiving files
  • If your file is large, for example over 5 MB, we recommend that you compress it before sending (we can accept most compressed file formats)
  • Try sending your file(s) from a different email account
  • Try sending your file(s) via a colleague
  • We are also able to accept very large texts on CD-ROM

How are changes marked in my document?

Changes are marked in your text in bold. We also add detailed comments if anything is unclear.

If you wish us to use Track Changes rather than bold to mark changes in your text, please tell us when you send your text.
